(If they're mature for their age) I don't think you'll regret, and neither will they.Halo is without a doubt one of the most iconic gaming franchises to date and the newest addition, Halo: Infinite will be released on December 8 this year. So buy the game, share it with your children. I don't blame them, as I'm an epic halo fan myself. What the heck are they talking about?! Aliens are invading us, and we're simply defending ourselves! My two sons, Trent and Jacob, simply enjoy this game. CSM believes that the message is bad because we're attacking aliens. I think this is along the lines of E-10+ more than anything. It could at least of been rated T, but I don't think it even amounts to that. The language is extremely mild I only heard about 5 d*mns and maybe 1 crap in the whole thing. There is a bit of blood, but like I said, it's mild and discolored. There is absolutely no gore at all in this, despite what the ESRB says. The aliens are well-done, but I don't really think they're going to make you pee your pants or anything. (At least, my little ones don't) When the ESRB said it's scary, I just laughed out loud. (plus, it's whacked colors, like green and pink) The only time there is ANY human blood at all is if you shoot your partner, which even the youngest of children understand is morally wrong, and they'd never do it.
I mean, you're shooting aliens here, and there's little to no blood. When ESRB rated this game M, I was outraged. The graphics are incredible, the music is impeccable, and it's just an overall great video game.
Halo 2 is by far the best game I have ever had the pleasure to play. Even still, at least one important character arc made it through unscathed, and in general the cast is still mostly comprised of admiral figures who are just trying their best to do the right thing.
That being said it is worth noting that due to the game's troubled development the story is actually incomplete, so certain themes and payoffs are not followed through on. The story generally revolves around the concept of thinking for yourself and doing the right thing even if it's difficult. Language is relatively tame with S-t being the most intense it gets. The scene is brief, but could be still be seen as disturbing to some, especially children. In a cutscene at the very beginning of the game a humanoid-esque alien is shown being tortured via electrocution and branding. Despite their macabre nature, The Flood are not as scary as they were in the previous game. Flood enemies will sometimes break apart when killed, launching their severed limbs and other parts all over the place. That being said humans still produce red blood when they are injured, and in multiplayer you still are killing humans.Īlso worth noting, around a third of the way through the game a zombie like enemy known as "The flood" is introduced, which possess decayed human and alien corpses alike. Blood is always shed upon injury, however the aliens you fight all have non-red blood, which is not quite as brutal. Gameplay features almost nonstop combat with both guns and alien laser weapons. Halo 2 is about on par with its predecessor in terms of violence if not slightly less gruesome.
